VERSE:
Proverbs 1:8-9
8 Listen, my son [daughter], to your father's instruction
and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
9 They will be a garland to grace your head
and a chain to adorn your neck.
LESSON:
When it comes to giving you advice, could your parents really know what they are talking about? This verse seems to be saying "yes". It calls sons/daughters to listen to their father's instructions and not to forsake their mother's teachings. Why? It is promised to be as beautiful as garland (a ring of flowers) and as valuable as a chain to adorn your neck (yes...like gold bling for your neck). Not too shabby.
