What does the Bible say about Godly Women?

VERSE:

Proverbs 31:30 (New International Version)

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

LESSON:

What does the Bible say about Godly Women?

This verse instructs both men and women that a woman's "...charm is deceptive..." and "...beauty is fleeting", "...but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised". This verse is not saying that charm and beauty are not nice things for a woman to have. What it is saying is that these characteristics are "OK" to have...but much more praiseworthy...is a woman who "...fears the LORD...". In this, and many other verses in the Bible...the word "fears" means a respect or reverence for the LORD.

What should we do if we Love Jesus?

VERSE:

John 21:15-17 (New International Version)

Jesus Reinstates Peter

15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?"

"Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."

16 Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?"

He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep."

17 The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?"

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you."

Jesus said, "Feed my sheep.

LESSON:

What should we do if we Love Jesus?

In this verse, Jesus said..."Feed my lambs", "Take care of my sheep", "Feed my sheep. In other words, we are to help other Christians in their faith...and to help Christians and others meet their needs in life.

VERSE:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (New International Version)

16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

LESSON:

What is God's will for you...now that you know Jesus?

This verse calls us to "be joyful always", to "pray continually" and to "give thanks in all circumstances". Why..."for this is "God's will for you in Christ Jesus".

Should we really ask God for things?

VERSE:

Philippians 4:6-7 (New International Version)

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

LESSON:

Should we really ask God for things?

Yes...but. Yes we should ask God for things. The But relates to...what is it we should be asking God for. This verse seems to be telling us that we should ask God for help with things in our life which may be causing us to be anxious. Perhaps we are going through a change in our life, like graduating from school, taking on a new job, getting married, moving to a new city, having a child. All of these life changes can make the best of us anxious. This verse tells us to "not be anxious about anything". It tells us that "by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. In return for following this guidance, this verse promises "Peace" which will "guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus". What kind of "peace"? The kind of peace from God "which transcends all understanding". This is "Peace" so wonderful...the verse tells us, we may not be able to intellectually understand it...but we will surely experience it.

What should a Country's response be to God/Jesus' unfailing love?

VERSE:

2 Chronicles 7:14 (New International Version)

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

LESSON:

What should a Country's response be to God/Jesus' unfailing love?

This verse tells us that even a "land", or a "people" (I understand this to also mean a "Country") may need to be forgiven by God.

This verse talks about "...my people..." but also talks about "their land". The key to having God "hear from heaven", to "forgive", and to "heal their land" can be found in four required acts for a "people". 1) "humble themselves", 2) "Pray", and 3) "seek my face, and 4) "turn from their wicked ways". A country can only be turned around...one person at a time. Our challenge as Christians, is to follow these steps ourselves, and then to encourage all of those around us to do the same.

What should our response be to God/Jesus' unfailing love?

VERSE:

Romans 12:12 (New International Version)

12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

LESSON:

What should our response be to God/Jesus' unfailing love?

This verse tells us that we should be "joyful", "Patient" and "faithful". It does not guarantee that we as Christians will have an easy road in life. We know this as this verse tells us that we should be "joyful in hope, patient in affliction". How can we cope with difficulties in life? This verse calls us to be "faithful in prayer". There are times in life...when prayer is all we can do to react to the situations we find ourselves in.

Through Jesus, what may we now ask of God?

VERSE:

1 John 5:14-15 (New International Version)

14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

LESSON:

Through Jesus, what may we now ask of God?

This verse tells us that, through Jesus, "...in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us...". The important "little" words in this verse are "...according to his will...". God/Jesus is not Santa Claus. We can't just ask for anything on our "I want list". If we are striving to be "Godly people", we should be asking God for things that would be consistent with "his will". But short of that limitation...we are told that we can ask God for "anything".

What did the Disciples profess to the Jewish leaders when questioned why they taught in Jesus name?

VERSE:

Acts 5:30-32 (New International Version)

30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead—whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. 31 God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel. 32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

LESSON:

What did the Disciples profess to the Jewish leaders when questioned why they taught in Jesus name?

They professed that God has raised Jesus from the dead, and that Jesus had been exalted to God's own right hand as Prince and Savior. They taught that Jesus is now granted by God, authority to give repentance and the forgiveness of sins. They also claimed that they, and the Holy Spirit, were each witnesses to what they said about Jesus. (They also said that the Holy Spirit is given by God to those who obey him).
