VERSE:
2 Chronicles 7:14 (New International Version)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
LESSON:
What should a Country's response be to God/Jesus' unfailing love?
This verse tells us that even a "land", or a "people" (I understand this to also mean a "Country") may need to be forgiven by God.
This verse talks about "...my people..." but also talks about "their land". The key to having God "hear from heaven", to "forgive", and to "heal their land" can be found in four required acts for a "people". 1) "humble themselves", 2) "Pray", and 3) "seek my face, and 4) "turn from their wicked ways". A country can only be turned around...one person at a time. Our challenge as Christians, is to follow these steps ourselves, and then to encourage all of those around us to do the same.
