VERSE:
John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
LESSON:
Jesus is called the "Alpha and the Omega". Why? He was the first...and he will be the last. (Alpha is the 1st letter of the Greek alphabet and Omega is the last letter in the Greek alphabet). This verse tells us that Jesus was "...with God in the beginning...". So, although humans experienced Jesus' existence first when he arrived as a newborn baby on earth at what we now call Christmas...he actually always "was"...and always "will be". What a wonderful assurance that Jesus can be the link between us and God...as he has been with God from the very beginning.
