VERSE:
Luke 1:46-49
46 And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, 49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is his name.
LESSON:
Offer Praises to God like Mary!
This verse tells us how Mary reacted when she received the news that she would bear the child that was to be called Jesus. In her surprise and her fear, she turned to glorifying God. She was not sure about her future...but she trusted God. She was not directing the next chapters in her life, God was...and she rejoiced in that fact. Why would she react this way? As the verse tells us...she said "...for the Mighty One has done great things for me - holy is his name...". At this time of advent, take some time to look back in your life, and see if you can remember any times in your life when God "...has done great things..." for you in your life. If you try...I think you will remember some. Praise be to the Lord!
