VERSE:
Micah 5:4
4 He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.
LESSON:
The Shepherd of the flock!
I am sure that you have heard Jesus called "The Good Shepherd". It is written a number of times in the New Testament. But did you also know that it was written about Jesus in the Old Testament (around 600-700 years before the birth of Jesus)? In this verse Micah is predicting the coming of Jesus around 600-700 years BEFORE the birth of Christ, and he has various ways of describing what Jesus would be like. He also explains that the results of Jesus "...majesty..." will be that "...his flock..." will live securely. In Jesus, we are secure in God's love, his forgiveness, and his redemption!
