VERSE:
Acts 1:4-5 (New International Version)
4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
LESSON:
What did Jesus command the Disciples about the arrival of the Holy Spirit?
Jesus was with the Disciples for approximately 40 days after he had risen from the dead. On the particular day recorded in this verse, Jesus commanded the Disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to arrive in Jerusalem. He told them that the Holy Spirit was "...the gift my Father Promised, which you have heard me speak about". He told them that they would be "...baptized with the Holy Spirit..." in a way similar to how John the Baptist has baptizing with water. We too should seek the Holy Spirit in our lives...as a Gift from God.
