VERSE:
1 Peter 1:24-25
24 For,
"All men are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25 but the word of the Lord stands forever." And this is the word that was preached to you.
LESSON:
In this verse, we are told that humans may be glorious...but they don't last for ever. We are "...like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall...". But this verse contrasts the short-lived existence of humans...with the "...forever..." nature of the Bible when it states "...but the word of the Lord stands forever...". Forever is a very long time. Who are you going to put your faith in? A human, whom we know lives only for a limited time...or the "...word of the Lord..." (the Bible) which "...stands forever..."?
