VERSE:
John 1:17
17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
LESSON:
In this verse, we are told that we received "...the law..." from Moses, but we received "...grace and truth..." through Jesus Christ. This verse seems to be telling us that the "...law..." , as was being taught in the Jewish synagogues of Jesus time, was not all of the "...truth..." that God wants us to understand. It took Jesus, coming to earth in the flesh, to teach us from the "...Law...", and also to give us grace. Both truth and grace are important Christian principles that we should study. You need to be careful that what you study and what you believe is based upon the real truth. You must be careful of what/who you choose as the source of what you consider the truth.
