A new Commission?

VERSE:

Matthew 28:18-20

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

LESSON:

First of all, what is a "Commission"? The dictionary says that it is "...an order, a charge, a direction, or granting authority...". What is Jesus telling us here? That through "his authority", granted to him by God...he is giving us an "order" that should constitute our "Life's work". Wherever we find ourselves in life, our role as Christians is to "...go and make disciples of all nations...", "...baptizing them...", "...teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you...". Wow. Talk about a "tall order" or a "Big Job". Well, we may sometimes feel "small"...but nothing is too large for God.
