"Thy will be done"?

VERSE:

Psalm 143:1

10 Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground.

LESSON:

Do you remember the words to "The Lords Prayer"? It contains the words "...thy will be done...". This verse is about asking God to teach us his will. If we do God's will...then we will please him. This verse also offers a prayer that God's spirit would "...lead me on level ground...". I have read a number of translations that seem to indicate that this prayer is asking God to lead us to a place where we will be safe...and to live "upright", or in accordance with God's commandments. The writer is telling us that when we walk in God's will, we live in a way that is pleasing to God.
