VERSE:
Colossians 3:20
20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
LESSON:
We live in a society where everyone rebels against someone or something, and no one seems to want to obey the rules. Employees don't want to listen to their supervisors. Drivers don't want to follow the rules of the road. Corporations don't think that laws really apply to them. Parents want special treatment for their kid, from their sports team coaches, when it comes to applying the rules. No one really wants to "obey". Sometimes even kids don't want to listen to the advice or directions of their parents. This verse singles out that act of failing to "obey", and calls us to "...obey your parents in everything". Read that sentence again...it says the word "everything". Why should you do this? Because, this verse tells us, "...this pleases the Lord...".
