How do our thoughts compare to God's thoughts?
VERSE:
Isaiah 55:8-9 (New International Version)
8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the LORD.
9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
LESSON:
Many persons on this earth think very highly of themselves. They are at the center of their own universe. They might even be called "A legend in their own minds". This verse should make us all think twice about any comparisons we may try to make between ourselves and God. This verse basically tells us that we and God are in totally different worlds.
When it says that "...my thoughts are not your thoughts..." and "...my ways higher than your ways..." and "...my thoughts than your thoughts..." it summarizes the vast gulf in our differences with God's thoughts and ways.
What careful examination of the meaning of this verse should make us focus on in life is not how we might be able to make Gods thoughts and ways like ours...but rather how we may be able to make our thoughts and our ways more like God's.
