What were we like before knowing God? After knowing God? What must we watch out for?
VERSE:
Galatians 4:8-9 (New International Version)
8 Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. 9 But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?
LESSON:
This verse tells us that before we knew God, we "...were slaves to those who by nature are not gods...". (In other words...we did what the "ungodly" persons in the world told us was fine to do). It further tells us that once we "...know God...", we are also "...known by God...". It warns us to always be careful not to slip back into our old habits...of doing what "the ungodly" tell us to do.
