VERSE:
Matthew 27:12-14 (New International Version)
12 When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. 13 Then Pilate asked him, "Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?" 14 But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.
LESSON:
What qualities must we have to be "Effective" and "Productive" Christians? (Self-Control). Have you ever been tempted to yell back at someone in answer to a false statement that they have made about you? I have not only been tempted...I know that I have yelled back. Can you imagine having to show "Self-Control", to the level of not answering back...when by doing so certainly assures that you might be condemned to death? This is the temptation that Jesus faced in being true to his promise to God to fulfill the task that God had given him here on earth. We may not face such a challenge from God in our lives, but we daily experience temptations that pit our Godly "Self-Control" against what we know to be right and wrong in God's eyes. Today, try to be more aware of those temptations that face us all...and strive to show Godly "Self-Control", by calling upon God to give you strength.
