VERSE:
1 Timothy 3:16 (New International Version)
16 Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great:
He appeared in a body,
was vindicated by the Spirit,
was seen by angels,
was preached among the nations,
was believed on in the world,
was taken up in glory.
LESSON:
What qualities must we have to be "Effective" and "Productive" Christians? (Godliness) In this verse, the writer tells us that the best way to try to follow the example of God,(Godliness)is to do our best to follow the example of Jesus Christ. This verse gives the the reasons that Jesus so closely mirrored godliness. He was God in human or bodily form, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world and was taken up in glory. This one sentence reminds us of the mystery of the godliness of Jesus. We will review more between now and Easter, some of the ways that we can emulate Jesus.
